Think Globally and tell your boss

I submitted my resignation letter and I didnt expect that they will be convincing me to stay. At first, I hesitated to talk to the CEO because I already made up my mind but maybe he's good at convincing people and so I was convinced :) Who would not say no to your CEO? I was flattered and the gesture added points to my self-esteem. He was an American by the way. I told him why I am resigning, my frustrations, some of my rants and the opportunities awaiting for me in the other company. He apologized for everything and he said that if I still go, he would make sure that I'll get a package commensurate to what I didnt get but deserved anyway. The other option is to stay and have the opportunity to work in his other companies in the US. I chose the latter because even if we go to Canada later, I would still look for a job and what's he's offering is a sure thing and an L-1 visa. Once approved, I can immediately bring my family with me and Lito can work there too, legally that is. I just hope that this will materialize soon. We're looking at 3-6 months but CEO wanted it the sooner the better. It took 2 weeks before it all sinked in my head and share it here. It's only now that I'm beginning to be excited, joyful and nervous all at the same time with this new undertaking I'm about to face. Anyway, the where and when is not definite yet. I'm just taking the word of our CEO and I believed him because he has already sent Marisel there and Anna is soon to follow. It's just a matter of time. In God's time.

I'd like to close this blog entry with this.."What you want isn't always what you get but in the end what you get is better than what you wanted" Praise God!

Think Globally, Act Locally

Call me insatiable but I really am especially when I see that my career's future is still vague for a late thirty’s like me. This blog is a repository of my rants and maybe it's about time that I got to do something about it. I started exploring other opportunities late last year and I got a few responses. Either I’m over or under qualified to the jobs I’ve been applying for. The jobs I didn’t push through were from the Ortigas and Quezon City areas. I also got invitations, or headhunted. I got an invitation to join as a QMS Officer, something I liked sana and I guess I’m also qualified but the location is very far I will only spend most of my time commuting. The other invitation was from Singapore for a LIMS Administrator, but I didn’t have any knowledge in Oracle programming that’s why I didn’t persist.

I’m so glad that my job hunting already paid off. I finally got a decent offer (something I can’t resist) Not only do I get a pay just right for the task (not overworked but underpaid!) I will also have opportunities to go to China, US and Canada. Speaking of Canada, Lito already got a call from the Embassy and hopefully our immigration plans will finally be realized. Accepting the offer will also mean a long term career move because the project I will be involved with is HQ’d in Canada and getting a job there will not be difficult. Thank God! I may have become impatient with my career but God really works in mysterious ways and made all these possible.

Labor Day, SPIDEY DAY

Spiderman 3’s opening day today, 3 days ahead of United States opening. Since it’s a holiday, what an opportunity for Lito and I to have a movie date again. We were not surprised to see long queues at the ticket booth but since it’s showing in all the cinemas at SM, we found good seats and was able to watch coming-soon movie sneak previews. I miss this because most of the time, we only enter when the movie is just about to start or the title and credits have already been shown.

The movie is expected to introduce new effects and more action scenes and I guess it didn’t fail the viewers on that aspect. I also liked the scenes where Peter Parker turned to the dark side and wore the black suit. His transformation made him “cool” and funny in a way. I loved the scene where he strutted down the street and looked dashing when he stepped out of the fashion store. What disappoints me is that the villain’s becoming one is too vague. Both the Sandman and Venom existence was not explained well in the scenes unlike the Octopus Man from Spiderman 2. Venom’s source came from the outer space alright and according to Peter’s Professor it gets its traits from its host so I’m wondering why did Eddie Brock became a Venom and got the Spiderman’s characteristics when he was just a freelance photographer? And why did Sandman just left like that? Did Spiderman just forgive and allow him to steal because he explained he needed money for his kid? I got confused there or maybe I wasn’t paying attention. The movie is lengthy, make sure you’ve already eaten before you watch it. Anyway, generally, we enjoyed the movie and the mala-“Dawson’s Creek” drama scenes of Peter and MJ didn’t matter too much. I almost forgot Harry Osborne (the James Dean look-alike friend of Peter and MJ), I was so glad to see him and at the turn of events toward the end of the movie. What’s remarkable was the last dialogue of Peter Parker –“We are all faced with choices. It’s a matter of making the right ones.” Or something to that effect….very timely to me. I hope to make the right choice soon…:). As for you, watch the movie and make a choice of liking it or not.
