We're going to Bohol!

“It’s time everyone flies” as Cebu Pacific would say. Finally I got a good deal from the 99 pesos all domestic flights promo of Cebu Pacific for October 17 to 20. I’m so excited that upon getting a schedule and determining the cost, I immediately called Lito and asked if we could go and he said yes provided that we bring another adult to help us take care of Kyle and Miggy. SO after calling Tita Ces (who’s been to Bohol but not yet in Panglao), I immediately confirmed my booking and called Lito that it’s all set. Yehey! Finally, my dream trips are becoming realities. After Bohol, here’s my planned trips lined up: Boracay, Puerto Princesa with Subterrenean River Cruise, Busuanga or Coron, El Nido, HK Disney…oops chaka na lang yung Asian trips, eto na lang muna. Hahahaha.

Here's our e-ticket:

Ruth VS. Naomi

Ruth vs. Naomi

Finally, he had the guts to tell her not to comment anymore because that starts the problem. I dunno what’s come over her or maybe she’s too sensitive to accept that he is telling her this or maybe she cannot bear her grudge to me anymore that’s why she broke loose and let it all out (well, most of it). Her anger started when we inquired where the Teflon frying pan is, then she blurted out “dapat kc pinagluto muna yung yaya bago pinag day-off”. Then he said something like “Wag na ksi kayo mag-comment kaya nagkakagulo, tanung lang naman kung nasaan yung Teflon, ksi si Irmee na nga magluluto” It’s ok with me to cook this time but my mistake was to put the porkchop in my own marinade when she already said na me timpla na. That sparked the flame more and she was not angry at him anymore for the”she starts the problem issue” but to me for the many old and kept issues. “Naipon na ata” “Kaya pala she was ignoring me all this time especially when I talk to her and address the conversation to her.” Anyway, I just let her talk and it doesn’t really matter to me anymore what she says. “Kung sino asar, talo.” She always has a comment on anything and she can’t tell the person involved directly. She only complains to the person who will listen to her which I am against because it’s like barking at the wrong tree. Being raised independently, I was trained to do the things on my own and I had my own ways of doing things. With that, we disagree on most things but I can only keep it to myself because I need to “makisama” and at this time I cannot do anything but to be where he is and sacrifice a little until our Canadian or US L1 visa is approved. I just wished she knew the real reasons why I’m not a good Ruth - I don’t want to stay there anymore, I don’t want to compete with her or be expected to please her – It’s just not me. I just want to have my own house and be the queen. There’s a saying that there’s only one queen in a kingdom and I definitely want to be the queen because I’ve always been one. I just hope that we move to our own castle soon. How I pray to be like Ruth to this hard to please Naomi. May God bless me.

Win Some, Lose some

Not everything is a WIN-WIN situation. I was shocked to find out that my boss (our QMR, my superior, not the American) and his 2 buddies opt to cease their services with the company. It's actually a good decision since with their competencies, they have great opportunities outside. Sir Rich was a good mentor (also good-looking as most ADEC employees say, too late to sip-sip hahaha). After Anna left, I took her place in coordinating with the group and I had the opportunity to talk to him more than the rest of the group. I tell you, I had more lessons learned, more wisdom gathered than tasks delegated and I will forever keep them on hand. Thanks Sir Rich. You are a walking John Maxwell and Proverbs combined, hehehe sip sip talaga...Googoo and Varian were likewise supportive and not snob (as my first impressions were) when it comes to work. Goo, thanks for sharing The Secret. I will always remember the Ernie and Bert style of you too. How I will miss you guys! If Caryl and Merci shed a tear or buckets of them today on your last day, I will keep my composure (I am good at hiding feelings you know) but I share their sentiments. You are a great loss to our team and to our company. It's just too bad that some people don't realize that. I hope you will add me to your numerous friends that you encounter and will not only be included in the list but remembered as well. We will keep in touch, okay?

Here's our picture during the turn-over ceremonies:

Good Luck in your endeavors. (a treat at Starbucks would be nice to have a chit chat :)

Think Globally and tell your boss

I submitted my resignation letter and I didnt expect that they will be convincing me to stay. At first, I hesitated to talk to the CEO because I already made up my mind but maybe he's good at convincing people and so I was convinced :) Who would not say no to your CEO? I was flattered and the gesture added points to my self-esteem. He was an American by the way. I told him why I am resigning, my frustrations, some of my rants and the opportunities awaiting for me in the other company. He apologized for everything and he said that if I still go, he would make sure that I'll get a package commensurate to what I didnt get but deserved anyway. The other option is to stay and have the opportunity to work in his other companies in the US. I chose the latter because even if we go to Canada later, I would still look for a job and what's he's offering is a sure thing and an L-1 visa. Once approved, I can immediately bring my family with me and Lito can work there too, legally that is. I just hope that this will materialize soon. We're looking at 3-6 months but CEO wanted it the sooner the better. It took 2 weeks before it all sinked in my head and share it here. It's only now that I'm beginning to be excited, joyful and nervous all at the same time with this new undertaking I'm about to face. Anyway, the where and when is not definite yet. I'm just taking the word of our CEO and I believed him because he has already sent Marisel there and Anna is soon to follow. It's just a matter of time. In God's time.

I'd like to close this blog entry with this.."What you want isn't always what you get but in the end what you get is better than what you wanted" Praise God!

Think Globally, Act Locally

Call me insatiable but I really am especially when I see that my career's future is still vague for a late thirty’s like me. This blog is a repository of my rants and maybe it's about time that I got to do something about it. I started exploring other opportunities late last year and I got a few responses. Either I’m over or under qualified to the jobs I’ve been applying for. The jobs I didn’t push through were from the Ortigas and Quezon City areas. I also got invitations, or headhunted. I got an invitation to join as a QMS Officer, something I liked sana and I guess I’m also qualified but the location is very far I will only spend most of my time commuting. The other invitation was from Singapore for a LIMS Administrator, but I didn’t have any knowledge in Oracle programming that’s why I didn’t persist.

I’m so glad that my job hunting already paid off. I finally got a decent offer (something I can’t resist) Not only do I get a pay just right for the task (not overworked but underpaid!) I will also have opportunities to go to China, US and Canada. Speaking of Canada, Lito already got a call from the Embassy and hopefully our immigration plans will finally be realized. Accepting the offer will also mean a long term career move because the project I will be involved with is HQ’d in Canada and getting a job there will not be difficult. Thank God! I may have become impatient with my career but God really works in mysterious ways and made all these possible.

Labor Day, SPIDEY DAY

Spiderman 3’s opening day today, 3 days ahead of United States opening. Since it’s a holiday, what an opportunity for Lito and I to have a movie date again. We were not surprised to see long queues at the ticket booth but since it’s showing in all the cinemas at SM, we found good seats and was able to watch coming-soon movie sneak previews. I miss this because most of the time, we only enter when the movie is just about to start or the title and credits have already been shown.

The movie is expected to introduce new effects and more action scenes and I guess it didn’t fail the viewers on that aspect. I also liked the scenes where Peter Parker turned to the dark side and wore the black suit. His transformation made him “cool” and funny in a way. I loved the scene where he strutted down the street and looked dashing when he stepped out of the fashion store. What disappoints me is that the villain’s becoming one is too vague. Both the Sandman and Venom existence was not explained well in the scenes unlike the Octopus Man from Spiderman 2. Venom’s source came from the outer space alright and according to Peter’s Professor it gets its traits from its host so I’m wondering why did Eddie Brock became a Venom and got the Spiderman’s characteristics when he was just a freelance photographer? And why did Sandman just left like that? Did Spiderman just forgive and allow him to steal because he explained he needed money for his kid? I got confused there or maybe I wasn’t paying attention. The movie is lengthy, make sure you’ve already eaten before you watch it. Anyway, generally, we enjoyed the movie and the mala-“Dawson’s Creek” drama scenes of Peter and MJ didn’t matter too much. I almost forgot Harry Osborne (the James Dean look-alike friend of Peter and MJ), I was so glad to see him and at the turn of events toward the end of the movie. What’s remarkable was the last dialogue of Peter Parker –“We are all faced with choices. It’s a matter of making the right ones.” Or something to that effect….very timely to me. I hope to make the right choice soon…:). As for you, watch the movie and make a choice of liking it or not.

Prawn Crackers, anyone?

Where else did Kyle get his appetite for crackers and chips? Of course, from his father! Look at his pictures and you bet he grabs the bowl to get the chips and gets mad when you get it from him. The prawn crackers were given as free appetizers at Flavors of China. We had to request for a refill because Kyle can’t get enough. He’s lucky his kuya was sleeping in the stroller while he enjoyed nibbling the chips. If not, it’s gonna be a riot because Kuya is also a chips addict.
